- Support
- Honesty
Smart Tutor Referrals has been matching students and tutors for academics, languages, study skills and homework support since 2002. We also provide engaging workshops for students and educators in Victoria. Since 2002, Smart Tutor Referrals has helped hundreds and hundreds of students to improve their skills and build learning confidence.
With a community of more than 50 tutors, we are dedicated to providing top quality, flexible learning support and service to students, parents and educators. Our focus is on supporting the individual as a whole, not just improving grades.
We are very proud of our excellent reputation for professionalism, integrity and support. We give back to the community in the form of free workshops for peer tutors as well as by leading elementary classes in business education through Junior Achievement of Canada.

About the Director:
Dahlia Miller BA, Dip.TESL
Director/Owner
Dahlia was six years old when she first started tutoring
- in her grade one class. She recalls, "I had finished my
classwork quickly, so my teacher let me walk around to help
other students in the class. I was thrilled and very serious
at the same time. Since then I’ve devoted much of my life
to helping people learn.”
Dahlia worked in a variety of roles as an ESL teacher and administrator for 10 years before establishing Smart Tutor Referrals. She has co-authored a grammar textbook for ESL students and has written numerous articles on a range of education-related topics.
Dahlia is passionate about bringing the benefits of supportive
learning to students and families in Victoria and being
a positive influence in Victoria’s educational community.
As Director, Dahlia continues in one of her favourite roles:
supporting students and teachers. “The position is so varied,”
says Dahlia, “that it keeps me completely inspired to stretch
my abilities and reach the greatest number of people – from
interviewing students for registration, to writing newsletter
articles, supporting tutors and talking with families, managing
STR is both exciting and demanding. I am doing what I love.”
When she’s not working, Dahlia enjoys time with her son,
doing tai chi and reading.
