Exam Preparation for High School Students

Knowing how to study for exams is a skill that takes
time to develop. When students are taught simple exam prep
strategies and put them into practice, they can begin to
take control of their learning, and become more engaged
and creative with their approach to the course content.

Homework and studying can sometimes become a battlefield at home. Workshop topics include: creating a supportive study environment, effective sudy skills and strategies, creating homework guidelines, communicating about homework.

Presentations to Peer Tutor groups are interactive and consider the needs of peer tutors. These presentations are offered for free by Smart Tutor Referrals as a way of giving to the community: supporting schools, students and peer tutors. Topics include: Effective Listening, Memory Techniques, Exam Preparation
Professional Development for Teachers: Preparing
Students for Provincial Exams,
2-hour workshop providing an overview of how to prepare students for provincial exams. Teachers consider the students' perspective and learn techniques for helping students organize. Interactive and active exercises lead teachers through sample lessons that they can present to their students. Topics Covered: Students' key issues with exams; Addressing fears; Demystifying exams; Helping students to organize (materials/time); Tips for memorizing & approach exam questions.
